Storage FAQs

Do I need a reservation to see the units?

No, but we recommend you do as availability changes often, especially near the end of the month. You can visit any of our locations during office hours, call to schedule an appointment to make sure a unit is available in the size you need.

Do you offer climate-controlled units?

We have climate-controlled units at Richmond, Maple Meadows, North Vancouver, New West, Squamish, and Langford Victoria stores. We also offer various sizes of non-climate controlled units.

What do I need to rent a unit?

You’ll need to provide one piece of government-issued identification (one with a clear photo), such as a passport or driver’s license. Also, your first payment – we accept debit cards and all major credit cards. It is that simple.

Do I need to pay a security deposit?

No security deposit is required. There is one time $20 administration fee for new tenants. If you rented from us before, this fee would be waived.

Is there a minimum rental period?

We only have a one-month minimum. After that, your rental continues on a month-to-month basis until you cancel the agreement.

Do I need to bring my own lock?

You can bring your lock. However, we strongly recommend you get our commercial-grade locks to provide extra security to protect your belongings. The latches on our units fit most standard padlocks. Some doors allow for a disc lock for added security. Please ask our team members for details.

Do I need insurance?

Yes! We recommend you speak with your insurance agent and review your coverage.

Can I pay my bill online?

You sure can. Create an account here and add your payment method.

What payment options do you offer?

We accept cash, debit card, eTransfer, and all major credit cards including VISA, MasterCard or American Express. You can also set up automatic monthly payments in-store and online.

When is rent due?

For your convenience, rent is due on the first day of each month so it’s easy to remember.

Can I have a courier deliver to my unit?

Yes! Many of our business customers have orders delivered directly to their storage unit. You’ll just need to leave a key on file with us.

Can I put up shelving in my unit?

You’re welcome to use free-standing shelving as long as nothing is attached to the walls or ceiling. This can help you organize your space and make the best use of the height of your storage unit.

Can I change units if I don’t like mine?

Definitely. Just let us know and we’ll transfer you to a new unit that works better for you (depending on availability).

What can I NOT keep in my unit?

While most things are fine to store, we do have some limitations: Firearms, explosives, weapons, ammunition, hazardous and flammable materials, gas canisters (e.g. for barbeques or RV use), cash or securities, coins, precious stones, jewelry, cannabis, illegal substances, illegal items, animals, food or perishable goods, dry foods (like rice, flour, pet food etc.), scented candles, items that do or could emit any fumes, smell or odour, fuel tanks, or any items that require fuel are fully drained. When can I access my unit?

You can pick up or drop off items anytime between our access hours, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Each location has slightly different access hours, so please visit the location page to find out more.

Can you help me move in?

We can’t physically help you move, but we can refer you to our list of preferred movers to help. We also have a fabulous range of packing supplies you can buy, and the dollies are free for you to use.

How much notice do you need for a move-out?

If you are planning to leave, we need only two days’ notice before the due date. If you need more time, we can prorate and extend your move out for you - just ask. Don’t forget to remove your lock and make sure your storage space is empty and clean.
